Summary of key medicinal chemistry concepts and principles that underpin drug discovery, for example, SAR. Principles and applications of prodrugs in drug design and delivery. Medicinal chemistry of selected drug groups: Discussion of a selection of the most clinically relevant drug groups. Drug groups will comprise of steroidal drugs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs), anticancer drugs, cardiovascular drugs, antimicrobial drugs, CNS-acting drugs and antihistamines. -- Course Website
